Built from masonry, not a kit

We build outdoor kitchens the way the house was built: block and steel framing, cutouts sized to the exact appliances you choose, a granite, concrete or porcelain countertop, and a stone, brick or stucco finish that matches the home. A kitchen built this way will outlast the grill inside it and can be updated when you upgrade appliances.

Designing the space

Good outdoor kitchens follow the same rules as indoor ones: a work triangle between grill, sink and refrigerator, counter space on both sides of the grill, a bar overhang so guests can sit and talk to the cook, and enough clearance from the house and any wood structure. We lay it out on the paver floor plan so the kitchen, dining area and lounge each have their own zone.

Fire pits, fireplaces and seat walls

A fire pit or outdoor fireplace is what makes the space usable in January. We build gas and wood-burning fire features in block and stone, with seat walls that double as extra seating and define the edge of the patio. Everything sits on the same base as the pavers so nothing settles at a different rate.

Floors that stay dry

The paver floor under a kitchen has to drain fast and clean easily. We pitch it away from the counters, set linear drains where a covered patio traps water, and choose finishes that wipe clean after a cookout. Porcelain and sealed travertine are the usual choices.

Lighting, shade and utilities

We coordinate gas lines, water, electrical and low-voltage lighting with licensed trades, run conduit under the pavers before they go down, and build footings for pergolas and shade structures. Plan the utilities first and the kitchen never has to be cut open later.
